Accuracy of Home Pregnancy Tests

Doctors give different opinions and views regarding the accuracy of home pregnancy tests. They claim that all sorts of home pregnancy tests are not competent enough to produce the 100 % accuracy.  A home based pregnancy testing is basically designed to trace or detect the presence of hCG hormone in the urine.  There are different types of home pregnancy tests like ovulation strip test or midstream test.

However, as per the report of The American Journal of Obstetrics, it is not correct to claim that every home pregnancy test will be successful in offering the 99 percent accuracy. The availability of hCG hormone in the body determines the possibility of the pregnancy after one or two days of the stoppage of the menstruation. The pregnancy test should be very sensitive to detect the presence of this hormone in the urine. Dr Cole has stated very clearly that most of these tests are not stable and authentic as the amount of the hCG hormones is at variance with the different pregnancy tests.

The best home pregnancy test must be much sensitive to the presence of hCG. Out of total 18 brands few tests like First Response or Early Result test is considered to be authentic and upgraded test to trace the lowest amount of 12.5mIU hCG hormone just after 1-2 days of the interruption of the discharge of menses. This degree of sensitivity is conducive to the prediction of the pregnancy at the early stage and the First Response test is fully capable of detecting the early pregnancy. However, Clear Blue Easy or One Minute test is also very competent to predict the chance of being pregnant at an early stage.

Therefore, it will be better for patients to probe deeply to make the proper selection.  If they face any problem at the time of undergoing the pregnancy test at home, they must pay visit to the clinics for the further research and checkup so that the risk of miscarriage or any physical disorder can be overtaken.
